Hong Kong egg tarts


Egg tart is a kind of custard tart and you can easily find these decadent tarts at in many Hong Kong confectioneries, and it's one of the more recognizable dim sum dishes offered in a dim sum house. In contrast to other dim sum dishes, egg tarts have undergone very little reinvention and hence, some scholars believe it is a quintessential symbol of the fusion between Cantonese and Western cultures.

There are two types of egg tarts, cookie-based and pastry-based egg tarts, both have strong buttery aroma. Egg tart may look very simple, but it requires precision in baking techniques and accuracy in the quantity of ingredients to create the perfect egg tart.
